Overview

Bonterra is a software-as-a-service business, delivering web-based applications and services to progressive non-profits and Democratic candidates. The EveryAction IT team is expanding and seeking a Technical Project Manager in our Washington DC office.

We're looking for our first Technical Project Coordinator - someone who can help us keep our non-client-facing projects...coordinated... and generally make sure operations are copacetic in IT departments. Being a new position, there is room for our first hire to help define and scale the role, but the general types of projects would be large technical ones with highly visible staff impact. Things like migrations (email, software) and mergers & acquisitions work. Your job here would be at least scheduling meetings, taking notes, making Jira issues, and tracking status of the work. It could grow to involve a bigger role in the decision-making process for prioritizing and executing these projects.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Bonterra is seeking a system administrator who will plan, implement and maintain hardware and software in support of our internal office environment as well as public-facing web applications. Candidates will provide end-user support, build new systems, develop and update systems documentation, and collaborate with our distributed IT team.

 

Like most IT teams, we handle a mixture of break/fix and project work. This position will focus on end-user support, but we have a technical staff. So we expect the System Administrator to spend about half of their time on projects, and about half on end-user support.

Candidates should have the ability to research, recommend, plan and deploy systems, solve problems independently, and work well on cross-functional teams.

 

Note: This is a full-time position located in our Washington DC office. Candidates should be able to lift 50 lbs. Occasional off-hours (nights and weekends) work will be required.

 

Requirements:

  • End-user technical support experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Windows workstation and Server operating systems
  • Experience with Apple products and OS X
  • Experiencing supporting desktop and laptop hardware
  • Understanding of IP networking fundamentals
    • IP addresses, networks, subnet masks, major protocols, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work on many projects at one time in a fast-paced environment

Desired but not Essential:

  • Familiarity with political campaigns and issue advocacy organizations
  • Experience with: 
    • Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure cloud computing platforms
    • VMWare server virtualization products
    • source control, change management and ticket-tracking systems
    • modern Linux systems
    • scripting languages (MS batch file, PowerShell, VBScript, AppleScript, Bash, Perl, etc).
  • Experience managing corporate phones and PBX systems
  • Understanding of enterprise IT operations concepts, including Documentation, Configuration Management, Redundancy, Security, Monitoring, Logging, Risk, Performance, Automation
